And what is the origination of the world? Dependent on the eye and forms there arises eye-consciousness. The meeting of the three is contact.

Katamo ca bhikkhave (voc. pl.) = what, bhikkhus

lokassa (gen. sg.) samudayo (nom. sg.) = the origin of the world

Cakkhuñca paṭicca rūpe (acc. pl.) ca = dependent on the eye and forms

uppajjati cakkhuviññāṇaṃ (nom. sg.) = there arises eye-consciousness

Tiṇṇaṃ (gen. pl.) saṅgati (nom. sg.) = the meeting of the three
